The Sissy Chronicles & Lyrics (first song)

Fans,
I have just posted the lyrics to "The S-word" on my blog (http://kishwriter.com); check them out and sing them in the shower and send me a composer who can do musical magic.

The Sissy Chronicles & Disappointment

Just got an email from literary agent, Elizabeth Pomada, who indicated that she would consider looking at three chapters of my work and an outline of the whole collection, IF "many" of the stories found publication in 'zines or reviews AND I had at least 100 pp and and an outline for a novel.

And I say...IS THAT ALL, Elizabeth.

What's wrong with simply publishing the stories?????????

I am truly disappointed, but that's agent-biz

The Sissy Chronicles: Let's Find An Agent

March 8, 2009

THE WORLD
Attn: Any Agent

Dear Agent:
I would like to introduce you to my first collection of short stories: The Sissy Chronicles.

The Sissy Chronicles follows in the tradition of David Sedaris and Augustin Burroughs, who entertain audiences with creative, non-fiction memoir.

Kiss and Run, one of the stories in the collection, has just been accepted by Mind Sprocket to be included in their first book publication called Documenting the Unseen.

Charis Conn, contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine, at the recent San Diego State University Writer’s Conference, described the writing as “terrific.”

All the stories in The Sissy Chronicles are told in the voice of the protagonist, Jimmy, who takes steps along his journey as a young boy discovering the glory of growing up in a small Pennsylvania town. Through the tapestry of the stories he encounters obstacles as well as triumphs. These “slice of life vignettes” include swooning over a ‘50’s pop singer, obsessing over a blonde pigtail, and praying along with a “Radio Rosary” show, among others.

My website, http://kishwriter.com, includes excerpts from the collection as well as an audio podcast, read by myself, of two complete stories, Scream to Me and Concetta, I Adore You.

In the past five years I have been working as an Arts and Entertainment writer in San Diego, and have written and produced several plays here.

I hope you will perceive the broad appeal of The Sissy Chronicles. Since there are 40+ million baby boomers in this country who have lived through the ‘50’s and ‘60’s, this book is unique and marketable to a wide audience. The collection includes 27 short stories (35,441 words). May I send you a copy of the entire collection?

The Sissy Chronicles & the Agent

After putting it off for months, I am sending out individual stories to Literary Magazines for consideration. It's the kind of exhausting work few writers like to do, but must do in order to push their material into the hands of an agent willing to tackle to editors of the world.
